Do you pay for backlinks?

Okay, nowadays backlinking has become an essential tool for page ranking. The more good backlinks you have the better your chances or getting high ranking is the search engines. So do you pay for backlinks or do you just do it yourself?

I have never paid for backlinks, and I am not sure how well it would work. I suppose you can get many backlinks quickly this way, but how good will they be?

As far as my knowledge is concern, others are paying for backlinks, they are doing this just to increase page ranking which will be helpful in search engines...I n this way, your visitors and potential buyers will increase....hope i'm right..:p

Most of the time I do it by myself. And if I get a little lazy, ehem... I think you know what happens next. :D I pay someone to do it for me instead. Ha ha ha. Backlinks are the future of page ranking.
